The Link Building Template is a planning workbook for deciding which pages a campaign should support and what kind of prospecting each page needs.
Use the Target Pages and Prospect Segments tabs to define priorities, link target types, campaign goals, owners, dependencies and next actions. The Summary tab rolls up key counts so you can see what is ready for prospecting and what still needs preparation.
Use the file as a working system
Complete the workbook with the project data you can actually verify. Keep one decision or record in each relevant row or section, and use notes for context that another reviewer would need. If an item is uncertain, flag it for review instead of forcing it into a category simply to finish the file.
Keep the output ready for the next step
Review the completed file before handoff and remove entries that are no longer relevant. Make ownership and next actions clear where the workflow supports them. A useful template should reduce repeated setup work while leaving enough context for the next person to understand how each decision was reached.
Practical handoff check
Before the file is treated as finished, read it once from the perspective of the person who will use it next. Remove stale placeholders, keep unresolved questions visible, and make sure the main evidence and next action are easy to find. A completed template should show what was checked without implying that open items were already verified.
Keep the final version focused on the project in front of you. Delete examples that no longer apply, use plain notes where context is needed, and avoid filling a field simply because it exists. The goal is a file that can move directly into review or work without another round of cleanup.
